I had a dream! We all have dreams and mine was to be financially free, to be answerable to no one except my conscience, to make money online and to eventually be able to spend less time working at home than I did in my current job. So I set about fulfilling that dream. I was just getting on board, as some would say, the entrepreneurial train. I had read a number of publications and I was aware that I needed persistence, courage and to replace any bad habits I had with good ones, I had a few, not that bad but they needed attention. I decided to focus my research on MLM/Network Marketing because of the relatively low start up costs.
Part of my future success in my new work at home business was going to be based on deciding whether to promote a product or a service based company or a company that had a combination of both. Some people like to promote a single product with a company. Others like the variety of having several products to choose from. Personally, it depends on what you want and what you believe in as well as the range and quality of a company’s product line. I know companies that have 350 products that are very successful. Others do very well with a range of 20 to 40 products. It comes down to quality and adding value to customers.
Now comes the selection process. Going back to products for a minute, when doing your research on this try as best you can to make sure you do not choose a company whose products are way overpriced, many are. You must take great care here; if you want to work at home you should be very aware that there are very many distractions that can divert you from your prime goal. If you get distracted you will find it difficult to make money online. There are thousands of network marking companies from which to choose and there are many companies that have good quality products or services. So take care in the process, in my opinion, it must be a company in which you have a genuine interest. If not then you may become a victim of distraction and the Internet has many distractions.
Is it the system, your company or product? Or is it your marketing content and influence?
As network marketers we must not forget the marketing. Marketing is important but you need content and influence. It doesn’t matter how much traffic you can drive to your site or your opt-in page, if YOU do not have content to give your prospects you are wasting valuable time.
It’s important to understand other people’s content and how to communicate it to other entrepreneurs.
Can YOU talk marketing?
Are YOU a leader?
Do YOU know how to write a sales letter?
Do YOU have influence on the phone?
These are questions that YOU need to be able to say yes to. Maybe you can’t say yes right now but you should be studying information that will allow you to say YES.
It’s not the system?
It’s the CONTENT!
It’s YOUR mind set.
Then it’s marketing and tools. If you get them all correct, you will make money online.

The internet changes daily as far as what works and what doesn’t when it comes to the ability to make money online. There are basic business principles involved when starting any business. These principles definately need to be followed when starting an online business or you will probably find yourself not being able to make money online.
If you are new to a work from home online business, your head can spin with all the hype, sales pitches , and outright lies as far as the reality of starting up an online home based business. Everwhere you go, you are inudated with make money online with this business, or that business. Be very careful. Most of them are worthless.
There are however a few things to look for in your search for a make money online business that can make you some nice additional income, or even better, it becomes your “job”. Making money online, generating $400-$1000 a day is far from what I call a “job”. If you do your due diligence, it can save many problems later, and enhance your chances to be able to make money online.
To help ease your frustration, and point you in the right direction for what you should be looking for in today’s online marketplace, the following summarizes some essential ingredients you should look for in any make money online opportunity.
Later in this brief overview, I will offer a “secret” to online success that is rarely mentioned in the many articles written on the subject.
1. SYSTEM- This may be the most crucial item to your success. You need a System that generates prospects, educates them on your business opportunity, sorts and weeds out those that are not interested in your offer, then closes the sale at a conversion rate that ensures profitability. The System must be as automated as possible so you aren’t spending hours cold calling or following up with people that are probably not interested, then trying to use your sales closing skills to make a sale. To make money online or offline, you can not afford to get bogged down in the details.
Think of the successful off line businesses such as McDonalds, Tim Hortons or Subway. Do you think they could duplicate those businesses all over the country, setting up new franchise owners to run these businesses, without a SYSTEM that works?
2. BIG Profits- This is important as the advertising needed to result in sales can be quite costly. For some $1000 price point business programs, it isn’t unusual to spend $200, $400 or even $600 to make that $1000 sale. Of course, there are ways to also spend $0 in advertising, but the reality is advertising is often on the range where to make $1, you may need to spend $0.40. Your profit is still $0.60. Would you do that over and over if you had a automated system in place to make this happen? Big Profits allows enough profit so your advertising cost is well covered by your selling price. Avertising online can be free, but very time consuming. To make money online, you must advertise. This can be lots of money spent or lots of hours spent.
3. Hot Products- Yes, the product must be tangible and have use and value. There are many new business opportunities that offer $75,000 or more worth of downloadable products that sell for $1000. That’s pretty HOT, and full of value. Having a product that can be downloaded, means NO shipping. Always look for ways to cut overhead.
4. Leads and Traffic- This is probably the most perplexing for most new work at home business owners. A make money online business will never make any money without a source of leads (prospects). The key to providing leads to an online business is they need to be targeted. I personally do not buy leads, I prefer to buy customers for my business. It is a much better ROI than throwing good money after worthless leads, and that is what most leads that you buy online are, worthless, in my opinion. There are methods to generate your own leads, and these are far superior to buying leads. We are here to make money online, not squander it on buying leads.
5. Support and Training- as with any business start up, you need to learn your work at home online business program. Make sure that your business program has ample training and resources so you know exactly what to do to get those prospects to your System. This is not always easy to figure out when doing your due diligence on an offer. Always check very closely to see if the person training you knows how to make money online, and then have them prove it to you by their paychecks.
As a suggestion, make sure you ask for examples of where and how you will advertise. Also ask where will you get the wording for the ads, who will write the ad copy and the followup messages, what the conversion rates are for your system. If your sponsor can’t provide good answers, then they may not be that successful themselves. How can they teach you how to make money online if they don’t know thwmselves.
This is just a brief overview of what today’s online business programs need to cut through the many offers out there and make your business stand out to others. There are many avenues to being able to make money online, and these covered here are just a few.
Earlier I mentioned I’d offer a “secret” to successful online work at home business programs that is rarely mentioned in the various sales pitches. The true secret just might be you. You are the person who will determine your ability to make money online.
Most people do not realize they are starting up a real business. There will be ups and downs, profitability may not come overnight, or you may expect riches in the first few days.
If you have followed the previous steps, and are willing to work very diligently, you will be able to make money online. It may not come overnight, as there is usually a start up lag, but it will come, if you stick with it.

How to Make Money Online – Start your Own Blog
There are many ways to make money online, but it is not easy, if you want to be in total control then setting up your own blog is a good way to go. If you are wondering what a blog is, it is essentially an online diary or journal and the name is a shortened version of “web log”. If you have your own domain name and website it is very easy to begin. In this article I will cover such topics as what a blog is, the set up process, promotion, why a blog is a good thing to have and we will talk a little about making money from your blog.
The modern blog evolved from the online diary, where people would keep a running account of their personal lives. Probably about 1994 when it started, as we know it, and has become more and more popular over the last couple of years. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs(Wikipedia). That is a lot of blogs, one of the good things about blogs is that they can be as structured or unstructured as you wish. They are cheaper than a website and pretty easy to maintain.
As I said earlier it is easy to begin and there are free services that you can start your blog on via Wordpress or Blogger. If you have your own online business you will be aware that the search engines love fresh content so once you start your blog try to post to it at least twice a week, keep them focussed around your website and your business, this will help your search engine rankings. By getting higher rankings you will get higher positions in the search pages, essentially free advertising. Keeping your content fresh will keep/increase your position with the search engines and gets your readers to interact with you and gives them a reason to return to your site in future.
There are many ways to make money from your blog, and I provide a few examples below:
Google Adsense – this is free to join and easy to set up. The ads will match the content of your blog, Google does it all automatically for you and you will get paid every time a visitor clicks on an ad.
Affiliate Programs sign up for affiliate programs related to the topic of your blog and display links to those products on your blog. Do a Google search for affiliate program + the topic of your blog to find appropriate affiliate programs. Whenever someone clicks through your affiliate link and buys a product, you will receive a commission. If you are knowledgeable about your topic you could also write product reviews to help increase your affiliate sales.
Sell Advertising Space if you have a popular blog you can charge for this space on your blog. This could be in the form of a text link, a banner or a graphic.
Your blog needs to be “up there” with Google and the like or people won’t find you. As soon as you have started to post to your blog, which is promotion for free, you can get others to help the process.
Submit your blog to blog directories just search for blog directories in Google
Ask other bloggers to exchange links with you you put their link on your blog in exchange for a link on their blog.
Write an article related to the topic of your blog and post it to article directories.
Ping your blog every time you make a new post pingomatic.com is an example.
Participate in forums related to the topic of your blog. Put a link to your blog in your forum signature.
Finally, the most important thing once you have your blog up ad running is to post regularly to it. This is a free and effective way to make money online. All it really takes is a little time to write you post. Once you get the hang of it it will become easy and will not seem a chore.

Why are so many people interested in trying to make money online? I would guess there are millions of everyday folks out there searching for a legitimate way to make money online. What makes everyone so interested?

Those kinds of numbers make people seriously consider developing a business that will allow them to make money online and getting their piece of the pie.
Another reason to develop a business to make money online is if you know what you are doing, you can pretty much put your earnings on autopilot in a short period of time compared to developing a bricks and mortar offline business. It takes far less time to develop an online business that will support you, if you know what you are doing and have the internet knowledge to develop it. Your online business is also not hindered by your location or downturns in your local economy. You are now global and your customer base has just expanded beyond your imagination when you have an internet business as a means to make money online.

I looked at the money spent as the cost of my education.
If you have a knowledgeable person who has some years of experience with the process of how to make money online, and is willing to teach you, I would strongly suggest you take that option. You will end up with far fewer battle scars and a much fatter wallet.
With thousands of people starting an online business as a means to make money online, I would think that the internet truly will become the largest marketplace on the planet. Just remember that the name and information you receive from the person who downloaded your e-book is very precious to you. Respect it and don’t sell it. If you will respect the people on your name list, they will respect you. That is how you make money online, by developing a following of people who recognize you and respect you.
